Now at Navarette

Great experience at church albergue in Logrono last night. It is donativo. They don't ask for payment but suggest a donation if you feel like it. The communal meal was simple but good. Tuna salad, soup, potato dish and fruit and glass of wine. The priest helped serve the meal to us which was somethg unusual. Afterwards at 9.30 pm we were taken down into the beautiful but ornate church from a passage in the albergue through the crypt and up stairs again for a wonderful pilgrim blessing and prayer in about 6 different languages. What an amazing experience and food for the soul. The church was built in 15 something and is a mixture of Gothic and Renaissance architecture. It was a short but pretty and enjoyable walk to Navarette - an interesting old little village on a hill above vineyards. I only have to be at Granon on Sunday and its just 42 kms so am just dawdling along. I notice a change on the camino from last year as albergues no longer have computers but many have wifi so a smart phone is essential. The weather is a lot cooler in these parts now but still haven't had any rain.
