Day 1 as Hospitalera

We said goodbye to our Spanish and French hospitaleros today but fortunately David is staying on for an extra day as he does a rap for grace and conducts the 'reflection service at 9.30 by candlelight in the church. We will have to do it tomorrow. The priest has called around to welcome us and we did a shop in Santa Domingo this morning. Lots of pilgrims still arriving at 16.45 and we are now using the church as an overflow. It must be interesting to sleep in front of the altar! We are up to 31 pilgrims now. The sun is shining but still cool. The pilgrims are having pork stew and a vegetarian stew plus salad and baked apples which are done in the bakery's ovens across the road. It is very busy and I am on reception duty.
